Serena Williams has offered to donate 4.25 million face masks to students preparing to head back to school across the U.S.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion has partnered with t-shirt manufacturer Bella+Canvas, the National School Board Association and Scholastic to provide the masks to schools in need.
The project will also seek to provide educational materials to 54 million children across 115,000 schools in the country.
“I’m grateful to be able to help educate our schools about this resource, and to be given the opportunity to serve so many students,” she wrote on Instagram.
Bella + Canvas will also donate a mask for each one purchased by schools.
Williams has also announced that she can’t wait to feature at the U.S. Open kick-starting Monday, 31 August, after the Wuhanvirus led to the postponement of all sporting events.
Serena Williams is just one grand slam away from tying with Margaret Court’s all-time record of 24.
Still full of vitality, it is possible she will accomplish the feat, and even surpass it.
