China Warns Japan Against Sanctions Over Rights Abuses In Xinjiang, Hong Kong

The Chinese government has warned Japan against imposing sanctions on China over human rights violations in Xinjiang province and Hong Kong, ahead of crucial high-level talks between Tokyo and Washington.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday had 90-minute telephonic talk with Japanese counterpart Toshimitsu Motegi, reported South China Morning Post (SCMP).

The exchange was taken place at the request of Beijing, according to the Japanese foreign ministry.
