Athletics: Nigerian Ese Brume Breaks 25-Years-Old African Long Jump Record By Chioma Ajunwa

Nigerian athlete Ese Brume has broken fellow compatriot Chioma Ajunwa’s 25-year old African long jump record to win the event at the Chula Vista Festival in California, USA.

Brume, who was the most impressive Nigerian athlete at the Rio 2016 Olympics leapt to 7.17m on Saturday at Chile Vista Festival in California, breaking the 25-years-old record set by fellow Nigerian, Chioma Ajunwa at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Brume’s jump is currently the world’s leading distance

Two other women also jumped over 7m in the event: Brittney Reese, who finished second at the event jumped 7.10m, while Chantel Malone finished third with a mark of 7.07m.
